2 month well visit

Yesterday Emma went for her 2 month well visit. She weighed a whopping 11 lbs 9 oz which is the 75th percentile. She was 22 1/2 inches long which was in the 50th percentile. Her fussy time at night has pretty much gone away occasionally she will cry for a small amount of time. She still is not sleeping through the night but only wakes up once around 4. She is such a sweet little girl. She really only cries when she is tired or hungry and is smiling all the time now. I go back to work on Monday and I'm going to miss my girls SO much. It's been so wonderful having the entire summer of with my babies.

2 months old!

I love having babies but they grow up way too fast. Emma is 2 months old today and I can't believe it. She smiles all the time and just this week started cooing!

Thank you Aunt Cathy for our matching outfits!

Just chillin! Cathy this leg shot is just for you. I know that is why you chose Rileigh this outfit to see her legs...so here ya go!

Isn't it contagious?

Words can't describe how much we love this little girl. Her laughter is music to our ears. I love this. There is nothing better than one of those deep down true belly laughs.

Sweet baby Emma

Sleepy Days

Don't you wish you could sleep sitting up?

Nice Hair

Scott gave Rileigh a bath last night and he never blow drys her hair. This is what it ended up looking like last night.

Scott started calling her "Keith" for Keith Urban

We just have hair issues in our house. Great so glad my husband compares both of our beautiful girl to two men, Lyle and Keith....nice.

more comparison pics

Ok...here are some more pics of me as a baby. Kinda scary how much Emma looks like me. Thank goodness she didn't get those dumbo ears. Why my mother never cut that hair. Emma has not lost hers on the sides yet.

I personally think she is MUCH cuter.

Where did she get that HAIR?

The first thing people say when they see Emma is "Look at all that hair". The next question I get is "Where did she get all that hair"? Well you decide.
Here are some pics of me as a baby. Click on the picture to make it bigger.

and the hair queen herself!

I used to and still do hear all the time that Rileigh looks just like Scott. Well he has no claim to fame with this one!

Smiles!

Emma will be 7 weeks old tomorrow and she finally flashed me some smiles today. We got a call from the doctor today and the test for the entero virus came back positive on her spinal fluid which is a GOOD thing. The entero virus is the 2nd most common virus next to the common cold. So basically it was a summer cold she caught. So thank you for the prayers it wasn't anything more. We still can't ignore her kidney and will have another ultrasound in a couple months. Also thanks to the moms for the helpful comments on her fussiness.

Need help from blogger moms

So I've seen other moms ask for opinions about parenting so I figured I'd give it a try.

Emma is a much different baby from Rileigh so we are dealing with things that I'm not quite familiar with. Emma is a wonderful baby during the day. Eats every 3-4 hours and stays awake for a bit and then naps like normal. She has to be totally passed out for me to put her down to sleep in the swing/bouncy seat or crib. If she is not passed out and I lay her down she cries...which makes me feel like I can't get anything done. Have a spoiled her already or did your kids do that this young.

Second issue: Rileigh never did this so this is where I am lost. About 8 o'clock Emma starts this uncontrollable crying that sometimes will last 30 minutes until I get her calmed down and some night there is ABSOLUTELY nothing I can do to sooth her and she will cry which will seem forever. I feel like I am pretty good with babies but it frustrates me when this happens b/c seriously nothing makes her happy.

Normally I will feed her at 11 or 12 and she will pass out and fall asleep until 3 or 4. Last night I fed her at 11 and bathed her and she started up with the crying again. She won't take the paci and turns her head left and right and kicks her legs. Finally around 1 she went to sleep.

So here are my questions...could it just be her fussy period each evening that she goes through? But in the back of my head I wonder what if something is wrong.
Could it be her formula? But if it was wouldn't she cry throughout her daytime feedings as well. Any comments ladies? Did any of your babies do this? I need help.

Mine

Why does EVERYTHING have to be hers?

Emma Update

Now that we have gotten a few hours of sleep I'll give you the update on Emma. We are home with oral antibiotics and they still don't know what caused the fevers. There are hundreds of viruses that go around so we may never find out. Yesterday before we left the doctor ordered an ultrasound of Emma's kidneys just to be sure they were working correctly and it wasn't a kidney infection. The ultrasound came back with a slight abnormality that could be nothing...or be something.

It showed a slight bulge where the ureter connects to your kidneys. Your ureter sends urine from your kidneys to your bladder. The bulge could be nothing, or it could be urine collecting not draining to the bladder that could possibly cause an infection. See below. Because she had white some white blood cells in her urine they are covering her ground.

If it turns out to be a problem they would later on fix it through surgery.

So in 2 weeks we go back for another ultrasound so please pray that this bulge it nothing.

Last night was another horrible night of sleep even though we are home. We've got to get Emma back on a schedule. The nurses in the Pediatric Unit at North East Georgia Hospital were incredible. They were so sweet to us, but unfortunately the totally spoiled her. Summer time is really slow for them b/c it isn't cold and flu season. So they were so sweet and ask to watch Emma through the night up at the nurses station while I slept! They would hold her the entire night and bathe her each evening for me. Here is how Emma would come back (see the mow hawk)!

Here are some more pictures of my sweet baby.

Hospital Stay

Hey Everyone,
Please keep Emma in your prayers. Early Monday morning she woke up with a 103 temp and I took her to the doctors office. There they ran some tests and sent us straight to the hospital where we have been since Monday. More than likely she just has a viral infection. With babies that small the automatically admit her to the hospital. If she were Rileighs age they would send us home with Tylenol and tell it works its course.

They did a spinal tap to make sure its not Meningitis and took some blood. Right now we are waiting on the blood and spinal cultures to see if they grow any bacteria. Please pray they don't b/c that will mean this is just a viral infection. Her fever did break yesterday and has stayed at 98 degrees but this afternoon went back up to 100.8

I feel so bad for her b/c she just too small to be going through all of this. She's got and IV in her head and gets antibiotics every 6 hrs just in case its a bacterial infection.

We will know more tonight about the cultures. Emma is fine...it's just a waiting game at this point. Hopefully tomorrow we will be able to come home.

4th of July Weekend

We started the weekend off with my 27th birthday on Friday. My parents watched the girls while we went and ate at the Cheesecake Factory....yummy. We were home by 7:30 how lame are we? We can't stand to be away from our girls.

Saturday was a pretty low key day as well. Since we saw fireworks the weekend before we really were not up to sitting in traffic and beating the crowds. So we headed to Marietta to my parents house for swimming and some yummy ribs and cake from Nana.

Papa's kind of girl!
