Emma Update

Now that we have gotten a few hours of sleep I'll give you the update on Emma. We are home with oral antibiotics and they still don't know what caused the fevers. There are hundreds of viruses that go around so we may never find out. Yesterday before we left the doctor ordered an ultrasound of Emma's kidneys just to be sure they were working correctly and it wasn't a kidney infection. The ultrasound came back with a slight abnormality that could be nothing...or be something.

It showed a slight bulge where the ureter connects to your kidneys. Your ureter sends urine from your kidneys to your bladder. The bulge could be nothing, or it could be urine collecting not draining to the bladder that could possibly cause an infection. See below. Because she had white some white blood cells in her urine they are covering her ground.

If it turns out to be a problem they would later on fix it through surgery.

So in 2 weeks we go back for another ultrasound so please pray that this bulge it nothing.

Last night was another horrible night of sleep even though we are home. We've got to get Emma back on a schedule. The nurses in the Pediatric Unit at North East Georgia Hospital were incredible. They were so sweet to us, but unfortunately the totally spoiled her. Summer time is really slow for them b/c it isn't cold and flu season. So they were so sweet and ask to watch Emma through the night up at the nurses station while I slept! They would hold her the entire night and bathe her each evening for me. Here is how Emma would come back (see the mow hawk)!

Here are some more pictures of my sweet baby.

Katie,

Little late on keeping up with the Raftelises...You are all in my prayers. A sick little one is bad - a sick little one in the hospital is worse. Blessings on you. I will be checking back soon for further updates.
